The UCM Trnava Saints - A New Era. A New Tradition.

The European Union College Hockey League (EUCHL) is pleased to announce the addition of the UCM Trnava Saints as a new member organization for the 2027–28 season, bringing another exciting university hockey opportunity to Slovakia.

Representing the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM), the Saints will become part of the growing EUCHL network, which combines competitive hockey with accessible European university education and international student-athlete opportunities.

The addition of UCM Trnava represents another important step in the league's expansion and its commitment to creating opportunities for North American and European hockey players to pursue their academic and athletic ambitions in Europe.

A University Experience in Trnava

Located just outside Bratislava, Trnava is one of Slovakia's historic university cities, offering students an attractive combination of European culture, modern amenities, and an international student environment.

UCM provides a variety of bachelor's and master's degree opportunities across several academic disciplines. Its academic offerings create opportunities for student-athletes interested in business, economics, media, communication, social sciences, and other fields of study.

For Canadian and American players, the opportunity to combine university education with competitive college hockey in Slovakia offers an alternative to traditional North American college pathways.

Building Something Special

The UCM Trnava Saints will enter the EUCHL with the objective of developing a competitive hockey program while building a strong connection between the university, its student body, and the surrounding community.

The Saints will join a league that continues to develop its presence throughout Central Europe, connecting universities and hockey organizations through a common commitment to education, competition, and international opportunities.

"The addition of UCM Trnava is another exciting development for the EUCHL," said EUCHL President Joseph Kolodziej. "Our objective has always been to create more opportunities for student-athletes to continue their education while playing competitive hockey. Every new university brings another destination, another academic opportunity, and another chance for players to experience something different. Trnava is a tremendous addition to what we are building."

The Road to 2027–28

With the 2027–28 season on the horizon, the UCM Trnava Saints will begin preparations for their inaugural EUCHL campaign, including player recruitment, coaching appointments, and program development.

The Saints will join an expanding group of university-connected hockey programs throughout Europe, further strengthening the EUCHL's position as an international destination for student-athletes.

The future of college hockey in Europe continues to grow, and the UCM Trnava Saints are ready to be part of it.
